I'd remix Marshall Television Presents: Nostalgist by pulling it off the screen and putting it into your hands. The original was a fictional network ID with five programming blocks (Video Vault, Encore, The Marshall Picture Show, Headlines, The Feed), each a tightly animated homage to a different decade of music and entertainment history. As a video, you watch it linearly.

The remix: a 3D-printed remote, styled after a futuristic cable box, that lets you actually tune in. Turning the channel dial jumps between the five blocks; each has been expanded from its current 4-frame sequence into a full 30-second looping "episode." 

This remix was inspired by Nam June Paik's television sculptures and the idea that a TV doesn't have to just play at you, it can be handled, tuned, misbehaved with. The idea is to turn a passive homage-reel into something you channel surf and recreating the specific muscle memory of young folks flipping between BET, MTV, and the local news in the 90s, except every channel is one I made up.

With this exploration, and the class in general, I learned that I have many ideas, and this class taught me the importance of trying new things as a part of my process. There were nuggets that I gained throughout the past 5 weeks that I will carry forward: one being not to box myself in as an artist with labels. The explorations and projects have given me the freedom to explore things outside of illustration and think of novel ways to tie all my interests and talents together.
