Squabble Up

Illustration of Kendrick Lamar standing confidently inside an empty room.

This series of illustrations was inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up” music video.

The video’s dense visual language, symbolism, pacing, and use of tension reflect broader themes around masculinity, expression, and performance within Black cultural spaces. I was interested in how those themes could be reinterpreted through still imagery.

This project sits within my ongoing practice of using illustration as a way to engage with contemporary culture by treating popular culture and media as a lens for examining representation and symbolism.
